Kama Bistro is a modern Indian restaurant with three Chicago-area locations: West Loop, Wicker Park and La Grange. We're looking for a hands-on Kitchen Manager to keep it organized, stocked and running smoothly on every shift.

This is a working manager role. During every service, you'll either cook on the line or run expo.

What you'll do

• Work every service on the line or expediting, depending on the kitchen's needs
• Place all commissary orders on schedule so the kitchen never runs short
• Place produce, supplies and other orders with our vendors
• Receive and check in every delivery for accuracy, quality and correct storage
• Track inventory and keep par levels right, without running short or over-ordering
• Rotate stock (FIFO), watch dates and keep waste low
• Keep the walk-in, dry storage and stations clean, labeled and organized
• Handle daily prep, including fresh bread and tray setup
• Step in wherever the kitchen needs you

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of kitchen experience, with some lead, sous or kitchen manager time
• Strong line cook skills and comfortable expediting in a fast-paced kitchen
• Experience with ordering, receiving and inventory
• Very organized and dependable, with good follow-through
• Experience with Indian cuisine is a plus but not required
• Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (Chicago/Illinois), or willing to get it
• Can stand for long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs
• Available nights, weekends and holidays
